Peacekeeper Volunteer Program

The volunteer experience is designed as a way to:

  • Contribute meaningfully to the daily operations of a thriving retreat center

  • Experience the benefits of selfless service

  • Live in an intentional community

  • Practice setting daily intentions and cultivate discipline

  • Practice yoga and other wellness principles

  • Practice listening and communicating in ways that foster meaningful connection and relationship

  • Expand your perspectives and grow your awareness

  • Explore the local community and experience the wonders of Costa Rica

Peace Retreat's volunteer program is much more than simply volunteering - you become part of the daily running and workings of the retreat. There are required daily tasks, like attending meetings, cleaning, serving food, tending to the needs of guests and the overall upkeep of the grounds. Other responsibilities include special projects that range from social media to painting to teaching yoga, or marketing. Our aim is to partner and support volunteers feeling welcomed and included. From this experience volunteers' unique offerings can create an experience of truly being of service which fosters a significant contribution for themselves, others and Peace Retreat.

We have been fortunate to witness significant personal growth in so many of our volunteers since the program's inception in 2011. Our volunteers program offers a unique opportunity to be in conscious integrated practice, in an environment that is inherently nourishing. We believe that through practices such as yoga and service to others, we may grow our awareness, presence, and significantly deepen our relationship to self, others, and nature. The program is meant for those looking to align themselves and make positive changes in their lives.

We believe there is much to be learned through commitment. We are fully dedicated to our commitments to the volunteer experience. In turn, we request that volunteers remain as dedicated to their original commitment for participating, the commitments and expectations of the program, and their own personal well-being and growth.

This program requires discipline and commitment to one's personal growth, to Peace Retreat's professional commitments and to non-judgmental selfless service. Before you apply, please ensure that this program is the right fit for you at this time in your life.
